What makes my GOT BAG so special?
image/svg+xml

With your GOT BAG we are jointly fighting against plastic polluted oceans and for a responsible use of plastic. That's why we not only collect and recycle the ocean plastic needed to produce your backpack. Also the other types of plastic collected with our clean-up program are discarded according to the right recycling chain to ensure that they never end up in the ocean again. This is how we rethink circular economy and actively fight to preserve our planet.

With the goal of a circular economy, your GOT BAG backpack is made of recycled and resilient materials. It consciously refrains from ever new collection cycles and pursues a timeless, minimalist design language. Instead of following seasonal trends, you can rely on it for the long term. And if it ever needs to be fixed, our free repair service also ensures that you can use your GOT BAG for as long as possible, making it particularly sustainable for you.

Together with the GOT BAG Family, we want to raise awareness – with both our own clean-up program and educational work on site in Indonesia, but also by sensitizing people worldwide to a more conscious use of plastic. Be part of our mission to 'Create an Impact': Let's question our own actions and create change together!

Where does the ocean plastic for my GOT BAG come from?
image/svg+xml

In Demak, on the north coast of Java in Indonesia, a network of 2,000 fishermen collects ocean plastic as by-catch. The plastic is cleaned and sorted before processed. After cleaning, the PET portion is pressed into pellets. The pellets are then shipped to our production facility in China, where we turn them into a robust yarn for your GOT BAG.

How much plastic has GOT BAG recycled already?
image/svg+xml

GOT BAG has already recycled over 150 tons of ocean plastic. And thanks to your help we are able to recycle more and more every single day! Thanks to a collaboration with "Cleanhub" all our clean-up-program efforts in Indonesia will be tracked and documentred even more precisely in the future.

Why does my GOT BAG weigh less than the amount of plastic recycled to make it?
image/svg+xml

So far, we can only use the PET part of the collected ocean plastic for the production of your GOT BAG. Of course, the other types of plastic do not end up back in the ocean: With our own clean-up-program program in Indonesia, we ensure that all plastic recovered by the fishermen is fed into suitable recycling solutions. In addition, we are constanly working with our research partners to be able to independently process more and more of it into new products in the future.

What can be the reason for my GOT BAG looking worn out at some parts?
image/svg+xml

Your GOT BAG is made of 100% recycled materials, so there may always be small variations in structure and colour. Of course, we are aiming to provide you with a flawless product and therefore are constantly optimizing our processes be able to correct small defects in the material structure. Until then, we would like to suggest you to treat small imperfections at home with a damp microfiber cloth or a cockpit cleaning cloth.

How sustainable are the logistical routes of my GOT BAG?
image/svg+xml

We take our mission seriously: To keep our CO2 footprint as low as possible, we choose trains to Europe and ships to the US as our means transport. Also, our sustainable products are shipped in reusable and recyclable poly mailers made of 100% recycled materials. Currently, we are in close contact with our carriers to be able to offer climate-neutral shipping options across Europe soon. Stay tuned!

How we turn trash into treasure!

1
Our network of 1,500 fishermen on the north shore of Indonesia collects ocean plastic as by-catch. The plastic is cleaned and sorted before processed.
2
The PET portion of the by-catch is shredded into pellets, while all other unusable parts of the recovered plastic are discarded according to the right recycling chain.
3
The pellets are shipped to our production facility, where they are turned into a high-quality yarn.
4
The yarn is ultimately turned into a polyester fabric, which is waterproof thanks to an innovative BIO-PU coating and the foundation for your GOT BAG.

Recycling of ocean plastic

By using recycled PET, we made the commitment to utilize an eco-friendly alternative to new plastic in our yarn production. One metric ton of recycled PET saves 3.8 barrels of oil, 1.700 litres of water, and reduces the CO2 emission by 139 tons compared to the industry standard. So far, we were able to recycle more than 100 tons of ocean plastic.

Sociological & ecological values

Providing environmentally and socially compatible products is not enough for us. We also organize training sessions on waste separation for the local community on Java, to create a collective awareness about plastic pollution. GOT BAG also helps to support the establishment of a waste infrastructure in rural areas. In the long term, we hope to persuade the local government to rethink the way it operates Indonesia’s waste management system.

Innovative BIO-PU coating

Sustainable down to the last fiber! The fabric of every GOT BAG is water-repellent thanks to an innovative BIO-PU coating, which uses significantly less water and oil during production, while also emitting less CO2 than traditional coating processes. All of our products are free from PFC.

THE GOT BAG CYCLE

With our GOT BAG CYCLE, we decided to rely on a sustainable life cycle approach guided by nature.

We recycle plastic waste to manufacture premium yarns, which we ultimately use to sew our long-lasting products. Every single GOT BAG product is of the highest quality and durable. If you still encounter problems with one of our products, or if the product gets damaged, we offer you a repair service. If we exchange your GOT BAG, we will re-recycle the material for our next production line to make sure that the plastic will never end up in our oceans again.
